25 Years of French Room Memories
For 25 years, the fabled French Room at The Adolphus has provided unforgettable evenings for its patrons. In honor of its silver jubilee, we asked guests to submit their “most memorable evening in The French Room” for the opportunity to win a $25,000 one-of-a-kind luxury experience. The ten monthly winners – October 2006 through July 2007 – are published here on our web site along with the grand prize winner who was personally selected by the “dean of food writers” John Mariani.
Our congratulations to Ms. Lisa Faucheaux of Dallas, winner of our June “Memories” submissions and chosen by Mr. Mariani as the grand prize winner and recipient of the fabulous $25,000 one-of-a-kind luxury getaway.

The French Room’s $25,000 “Memories” getaway included the keys to The French Room for a very private evening and extraordinary dinner for ten, overnight accommodations in The Adolphus penthouse, a five-day, four-night stay for two at Florida’s fabulous Little Palm Island Resort & Spa (including breakfast, lunch and dinner daily), with first-class travel on American Airlines, Dallas transfers via ultra-stretch limousine by Smith Limousine, Florida transfers, and a $1,000 gift certificate for Tiffany & Co.
All of us at The Adolphus were truly touched by the beautiful memories so many shared with us. Rarely does a restaurant receive love letters from its patrons in such numbers and with such enthusiasm. We will long remember this anniversary celebration because of your tributes and high regard for this fabled dining room. Only one person may have been crowned, but – as far as we are concerned – every fond remembrance is priceless and worthy of the prize.

About John Mariani:
John Mariani is a columnist for Esquire, Wine Spectator, Yachting, Cowboys & Indians, Bloomberg News and Radio, and Diversion. He is author of The Encyclopedia of American Food & Drink (Lebhar-Friedman), The Dictionary of Italian Food and Drink (Broadway), and, with his wife Galina, the award-winning new Italian-American Cookbook (Harvard Common Press). His newest book, written with his brother Robert Mariani, is a memoir of their years growing up in the North Bronx. It's called Almost Golden because it re-visits an idyllic place and time in their lives when so many wonderful things seemed possible. For those of you who don't think of the Bronx as “idyllic,” this book will be a revelation. It’s about a place called the Country Club area, on the shores of Pelham Bay. A beautiful neighborhood filled with great friends and wonderful adventures that helped shape our lives. It's about a culture, still vibrant, and a place that is still almost the same as when the Mariani brothers grew up there. It is not yet available in bookstores, so to purchase a copy, go to amazon.com. You can subscribe to his widely read e-newsletter Mariani’s Virtual Gourmet Newsletter at www.johnmariani.com.
